2019 Colour of the Year: Living Coral

Does anyone else get as excited as I do for the reveal of Pantone's Colour of the Year? It gives us the opportunity to create a new vision for our homes, our fashion, and more to stay current with what's on trend. It can be tricky when it comes to design though, you want to be strategic with the colour so it still flows with what exists already. Some home accents are definitely easier to swap out than others, like a pillow case or bed sheets, but don't be afraid to get creative! Especially if you love the colour and know it would work indefinitely in a space.

We put together a guide that will leave you feeling trendy without breaking the budget if you're wanting to change things up each year or get piece that will be timeless in your space!

2019 Pantone Colour of the Year: 16-1546 Living Coral

Photo from: Pinterest

"PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of colour found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent colour mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the centre of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of colour." - Pantone

DIY Furniture

A quick, affordable, and fun way to incorporate the colour of the year is through refurbishing furniture! Finding a charming piece like this just requires some hunting, whether that be at an auction or a market, there are lots of furniture pieces waiting for a face lift. That way, you are getting functional furniture while staying on trend. We love how Hymns & Verses accented this with a planter box made out of refurbished barn wood too! Character filled pieces makes for beautiful and personalized home accents.

Artwork

Artwork always brings a space together! Getting a piece that has the coral, along with other colours that will really match your space will complete the look and keep you on trend. The hardest part? Having to choose which work you like most! We love how this Urban Road piece looks with some tropical plant touches and a neutral couch. That coral really brings energy to any space!

Painted Door

Spruce up any bathroom or laundry space with a quick paint job on the inside of your door! Pairing the coral with the neutral tiles and whimsical wallpaper will really make this space it's own attraction! You'll actually want to do your laundry with this type of look, am I right?! With smaller spaces like this, you can definitely get away with being super creative and daring.

Table Lamp

A lamp with an interesting base could help bring that new life to your space, especially with that pop of coral. Whether it's in your living room or a bedroom, this could bring the perfect touch of vivd colour. Lamps can act as a timeless piece while you change up what to put around it, such as a succulent, a few trinkets, or your favourite books.

Towels

Putting your towels on display... a yay or neigh situation?! It can be a yay when you have some that are the colour of the year! With open shelving and towel racks needing to be filled, displaying the pop of colour will show that you have an eye for detail. This colour can't help but make you feel welcomed and cheerful, which is the environment that you want for when you're hosting friends or family.

I can't wait to play with this colour in clients spaces for this year! Comment on our Instagram post of how you are incorporating Living Coral into your space!
