Project Canso
Hello everyone!
May has been so busy around here... I am finally getting around to knocking a few things off my to-do list. This project is complete and I am in love and I just couldn't wait any longer to share it with you guys!
This was a full main floor renovation. You will see from the before and after's that the changes are just amazing.
My client contacted us to get help with some of the tricky things in her reno such as the lighting and electrical plan and the paint colours and to also just get a second opinion before she started to rip apart her whole main floor. Then once everything was put back together I came back to help with all the finishing touches and selecting new furnishings to fit her new space.
Without further ado here are the wonderful before's! Don't cringe too much -- so happy my client could see the potential when buying this house. :)
And now the AFTERS.... SO MUCH BETTER!
The wall between the kitchen and living room has come down to open up the main living area.
Hanging off-white full length linen drapery helped to make the room feel complete!
Finding the perfect tv credenza was the hardest part since it had to fit the style and be the right scale for the space. I was hesitant at first with this piece because I thought it might be too busy with the moulding on the wall, but when it arrived it was just perfect. The gold and marble coffee table also helped bring some of the brass accents from the kitchen into the living room. Both the coffee table and the credenza are from Accents for Living.
The striped chair is my favourite piece in the whole room. Honestly, we originally thought we would do custom striped bar stools, but then my client suggested an accent chair and I thought that would be just as amazing and we went ahead with it and it looks perfect. We chose a super durable 100% solution dye acrylic so it could handle a lot of use and hold up when it comes to staining.
The chair and sofa were made at Statum Designs in Toronto.
Custom pillows are what set a room apart, because it allows you to pick the perfect accent colours for the space. We went with this deep rich Indigo velvet, paired it with this amazing Designers Guild floral, and then topped it off with a lumbar pillow in buffalo check in Perfect Periwinkle blue from Tonic Living.
Incorporating her husband's vintage dining set was a little bit of a challenge, but we ended up doing it and it worked. We got the seats reupholstered at Switch Studio with an Meredith Heron crypton fabric that will hold up against the blue jeans and the red wine drinkers. Also, we found the perfect pieces of antique art from Market Road Antiques. They were already framed beautifully and perfectly tied the dining room and the living room together.
This small round table was custom made from the Mennonites from Wellesley Wood Works with a custom matched stain to the dining room table. Bringing that colour of wood into the living room area made the vintage dining table feel cohesive with the space. The gorgeous table lamp is from Circa Lighting.
The standing floor lamp also came from Circa Lighting.
Working our way into the kitchen...
We used library lighting over the sinks from Visual Comfort and had custom made roman shades hung on each kitchen window made with fabric from Schumacher.
The cabinets and hardware are from IKEA and the countertops are from Caesarstone.
The 3 bar stools are from Wayfair.ca
The backsplash was sourced from Creekside Tile in Toronto -- which turned out amazing!
One of my very first Laurel Wreath bar towels was hung on the apron front sink. An added bonus to see my handcrafted designs showcased in my clients beautiful kitchen.
I hope all of you love this main floor reno as much as I do. It is amazing what you can do with a dark and outdated space if you can just see the potential. Project Canso was a success! Fabulous down to every last detail. :)
