Stewart Condo Project

This downtown Toronto Condo was in desperate need of a makeover, even though it was only a few years old. It was a rental unit and the space was looking very tired and outdated. Before the owners moved in they wanted to refresh the space and make it feel like their home. This little condo is going to be a place for them to stay during the week so they don't have to commute back and forth every night to their home outside the city. Especially with that terrible Toronto rush hour traffic. Check out these before and after photos to see how we transformed this space to make it more spacious, inviting and of course, more their style!

After:

The cabinets were in good shape but the faux wood finish was too dark for this north facing condo. We refaced the cabinets in white and it looks so much brighter!

We replaced the countertop with an overhang on two of the sides and added stools for additional seating and a place to eat.

We added a marble backsplash and replaced the appliances with professional styled ones that helped give the condo an industrial feel.

Keeping artwork simple was a must in such a small space as we didn't want it to feel overcrowded or cluttered.

Adding a small accent chalk wall to the kitchen gave it interesting touch and was just enough colour to break up all the neutrals.

Hanging the TV on the wall helped to create the contemporary style we wanted with zero wires and zero distractions.

Since we went with a small condo sofa with chaise we also added some fun coloured poufs under the coffee table for extra seating.

The pillows add more colour to the space and an inviting feel to this rather sleek, contemporary condo.

The entrance was a challenge since there wasn't much space to work with. We got a narrow shoe holder from Ikea and added a wood ledge on top so there was a place to put down your keys and mail when you walk in the front door.

Both the bathtub and the cabinet were refaced while the rest stayed the same as it was already quite neutral.

Underneath the double bed there is storage for linens and out of season clothes. In order to have full access to this storage we cut a shelf in half to create these two floating nightstands mounted on the wall.

Swinging wall lamps also freed up space on the nightstands.

Hope you enjoyed this condo makeover! It was exciting to make a small space feel like home, yet remain functional for my clients. Now, it is a comfy home to return to after a long day of work where they can relax or entertain a few friends. They are extremely happy with how it all turned out and can't wait to enjoy their new space.

Sincerely,

Kendra
